Comets Wrap Up Session II of Team Camps

The Mayville State Women's Basketball Team held their second session of Team Camps this past week (July 11-14).  The first session was held June 21-23. This second session covered four days and had 18 teams, close to 200 players and over 30 coaches that attended from both North Dakota and Minnesota.  The team camps include 5 on 5 games, individual and team skill development, team talent show, teammate talk and coaches clinics at the end of the first night.  "These overnight team camps have so good for us with recruiting potential student athletes to Mayville State, as well as promoting girls basketball within the Red River Valley", explains Coach Hutter.

All of the coaches and campers that attend the camp eat their meals in the MSU Dining Hall, and they also all stay in Agassiz Hall on the campus of Mayville State.

"It is also an opportunity for our team to grow both on and off the floor as well" adds Hutter.  The entire camps are led and ran by the Mayville State Women's Basketball players and coaches.

For the summer the Mayville State Women's Basketball Team hosted 30 teams, over 300 campers and over 50 high coaches this summer.

"The interest in our Overnight Team Camps continues to be high, and as long as their is interest, we are excited to hold them and have high school teams and players on our campus for a couple of days growing within the game of basketball", explains Coach Hutter

"We are also not able to run these camps this way, without the effort and attitude of our players.  They do such a GREAT job of making each player and team feel welcomed and special".  "They are an amazing group of young ladies", adds Hutter
